Phoenix Legend in Hohhot

Phoenix Legend is a Chinese pop duo formed in Shenzhen in 1998 by singers Linghua and Zeng Yi. Their music pairs folk-derived melodies and electronic dance rhythms with lead vocals and rap, a sound heard in “Above the Moon,” “The Most Dazzling Folk Style” and “Lotus Pond Moonlight.” The duo also reached the annual final of CCTV’s Avenue of Stars in 2005. In 2008, Phoenix Legend performed “Above the Moon” on the CCTV Spring Festival Gala. They returned to the program in later years, including a 2015 collaboration with Chopstick Brothers on “The Most Dazzling Little Apple,” which joined their hit to “Little Apple.” Their stage format follows the vocal division heard on their records: Linghua carries the principal melodies, while Zeng Yi delivers the rap and spoken responses.
