Giannis Haroulis in Heraklion

Giannis Haroulis is a Greek singer and Cretan lyra player who was born in Exo Lakonia on Crete. He performs Cretan folk music, entechno and laiko, and is known for the albums Gyro Mou Kai Entos, Heimonanthos and Magganies, as well as his interpretations of Erotokritos. His concerts at the Lycabettus Theatre in Athens were documented on the live album Chilia Kalos Esmiksame. He later performed at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, another open-air setting closely associated with major Greek concert programmes. The concert format centers on his singing and Cretan lyra, supported by a band. Set lists draw on his recordings, traditional Cretan material and songs by Thanasis Papakonstantinou. He plays most often in Greece and Cyprus. His international concert history also includes performances in London and New York.
