Goapele in Los Angeles

Goapele is an American singer-songwriter from Oakland who performs neo-soul and contemporary R&B. She is best known for “Closer,” first released on her independent debut and later included on Even Closer; her catalog also includes the albums Change It All and Break of Dawn. Goapele performed a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR Music backed by a live band, and “Closer” was part of the set. Her headline engagements have also included hometown performances at Yoshi’s in Oakland and theatre dates at the Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C.
