Comedian
Gunkl, the stage name of Günther Paal, is an Austrian cabaret performer and musician born in Vienna in 1962. The name originated in his brother’s childhood pronunciation of Günther. His work has received the Salzburger Stier, Deutscher Kleinkunstpreis, Prix Pantheon and Österreichischer Kabarettpreis. His solo stage programs include Glück – eine Vermutung, Vom Leben – ein Entlebnisbericht and Zwischen Ist und Soll. He also appeared regularly on the television satire Dorfers Donnerstalk and played saxophone and electric bass in the performance band led by Alfred Dorfer.
