Hayseed Dixie in Carlisle

Hayseed Dixie are an American band formed in Nashville in 2000, playing hard-rock and heavy-metal songs as bluegrass. The debut album A Hillbilly Tribute to AC/DC established the group’s approach through string-band versions of AC/DC material; later recordings included covers of “Ace of Spades,” “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Walk This Way.” Hayseed Dixie played the main stage at Download Festival in 2005 and also appeared at Roskilde Festival during their early European touring. They followed those appearances with repeated club and theatre tours through Britain and continental Europe. The group performs as a string band built around banjo, mandolin, fiddle, acoustic guitar and bass. Sets draw on hard-rock covers as well as original songs from albums including No Covers and Killer Grass. They have also performed at Glastonbury Festival and Wacken Open Air.
