Hellripper is a Scottish blackened speed metal project founded in Aberdeen in 2014 by multi-instrumentalist James McBain. Its fast, raw sound draws on black metal, thrash and early speed metal; key releases include Coagulating Darkness, The Affair of the Poisons and Warlocks Grim & Withered Hags. Hellripper developed from McBain’s solo recording project into a touring band, with McBain on guitar and vocals alongside live musicians. The group has taken that lineup through European clubs and onto festival stages, including Bloodstock Open Air in England and Hellfest in France.
