Hieroglyphics in Vancouver

Hieroglyphics is an American hip-hop collective formed in Oakland around Del the Funky Homosapien, Souls of Mischief, Casual, Pep Love, Domino and DJ Toure. Its West Coast underground rap catalog is led by the 1998 album 3rd Eye Vision and tracks including “You Never Knew,” followed by albums such as Full Circle and The Kitchen. Hieroglyphics toured behind 3rd Eye Vision as a multi-MC ensemble, drawing sets from the collective record and the members’ individual catalogs. In 2012, the group established a free Labor Day music festival in Oakland, where its members performed among invited hip-hop artists. Mayor Jean Quan formally proclaimed September 3 Hieroglyphics Day.
