James Blake in Utrecht

James Blake is an English singer, songwriter, producer and electronic musician born in London in 1988. His spacious, bass-heavy songs combine electronic production with piano and soul-inflected vocals. He became widely known through his 2011 self-titled debut and songs including “Limit to Your Love” and “Retrograde”; the album Overgrown won the Mercury Prize. In 2019, James Blake toured North America and Europe on the Assume Form Tour, followed by the Friends That Break Your Heart Tour after that album’s release. He returned with the Playing Robots Into Heaven Tour in 2023, performing on vocals and keyboards as part of a live-band set shaped by electronic production. His festival history includes performances at Glastonbury and Coachella.

Monica Martin is an American singer-songwriter raised in Baraboo, Wisconsin, who first became known as the lead singer of the indie-pop band PHOX. Her solo work draws on indie pop and soul, including the songs “Go Easy, Kid,” “Patient” and “Cruel.” PHOX performed at the Newport Folk Festival and Lollapalooza in 2014, giving Martin an early run of major festival appearances. After the band went on hiatus, she returned to the stage under her own name, recorded an NPR Tiny Desk performance and opened a series of 2022 concerts for Lake Street Dive.
