Marcel Dettmann & Gerd Janson in Sydney

Marcel Dettmann is a German techno DJ and producer, born in Pößneck in 1977 and known for austere, rhythm-led club music. His albums include Dettmann, Dettmann II and Fear of Programming, and he founded the MDR label. In 1999, Marcel Dettmann became a resident DJ at Ostgut; when Berghain opened in Berlin in 2004, he joined its resident roster. Beyond that residency, he has performed at Movement Electronic Music Festival and Dekmantel Festival.

Gerd Janson is a German DJ, producer and label owner associated with Frankfurt’s house scene. He co-founded Running Back, records with Phillip Lauer as Tuff City Kids, and has curated mixes including Fabric 89 and DJ-Kicks. Gerd Janson has held a long-running residency at Robert Johnson in Offenbach, where extended DJ sets have been central to his work. He has also played at Panorama Bar in Berlin and performed at Dekmantel in Amsterdam.
