MARO is a Portuguese singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Lisbon, born in 1994. She writes intimate pop and folk songs shaped by jazz harmony, and is best known for “saudade, saudade,” Portugal’s entry at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest. Her releases also include the album hortelã. MARO toured as a vocalist and instrumentalist in Jacob Collier’s band on the Djesse World Tour. In 2022, she performed “saudade, saudade” with a vocal ensemble at the Eurovision Song Contest, finishing ninth in Turin.
