Mavado is a Jamaican dancehall singer born David Constantine Brooks in Kingston in 1981. He became known through songs including “Weh Dem a Do,” “Dying,” “So Special” and “On the Rock,” while his early albums included Gangsta for Life: The Symphony of David Brooks and Mr. Brooks... A Better Tomorrow. At Sting 2008, Mavado faced Vybz Kartel in a closely watched clash at Jamworld in Portmore. He later performed at Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay.
