Michael Franti & Spearhead in Glenside

Michael Franti & Spearhead is an American band formed in 1994 and led by Oakland-born singer, rapper and guitarist Michael Franti. They play reggae, hip-hop, funk and soul, often carrying themes of peace and social justice. Their best-known recordings include “Say Hey (I Love You),” “The Sound of Sunshine,” and the albums Stay Human and Everyone Deserves Music. In 1998, Michael Franti founded the Power to the Peaceful festival, where he and Spearhead performed during the annual gathering in Golden Gate Park. The 2014 Soulshine Tour later paired their full-band set with performances by SOJA, Brett Dennen and Trevor Hall, alongside daytime yoga sessions. Their concert history includes ballroom shows at The Fillmore in San Francisco and open-air dates at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison.
