About Moodymann
Moodymann is the recording name of American producer and DJ Kenny Dixon Jr. from Detroit. His house music draws on soul, funk, jazz and the city’s techno tradition; key releases include the albums Silentintroduction, Mahogany Brown and Black Mahogani, as well as the tracks “Shades of Jae” and “I Can’t Kick This Feeling When It Hits.”
Moodymann has played Movement in his hometown, while his European festival appearances have included Dekmantel in Amsterdam and Sónar in Barcelona. Since 2007, he has also staged Soul Skate, an annual roller-skating party in Detroit built around his DJ sets.
