The Mountain Grass Unit is an American bluegrass trio from Birmingham, Alabama, comprising guitarist Luke Black, mandolinist Drury Anderson and upright bassist Sam Wilson. The group plays fast acoustic string-band music rooted in bluegrass and Americana; its releases include the EP Places I’ve Been and the album Runnin’ From Trouble. The trio has opened concerts for Billy Strings and The Wood Brothers. Its own sets feature acoustic guitar, mandolin, upright bass and three-part vocals, a format it has also presented at DelFest in Cumberland and Renewal in Buena Vista.
