Otis Taylor in Denver

Otis Taylor is an American blues singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, born in Chicago in 1948 and raised in Denver. His guitar- and banjo-led music is often described as trance blues, while his writing addresses race, history and personal loss. His best-known recordings include the albums White African, Truth Is Not Fiction and Recapturing the Banjo, as well as the song “Ten Million Slaves.” Otis Taylor has taken his band to the Montreux Jazz Festival during a concert career built around blues clubs, theatres and festival stages. He also founded the Trance Blues Festival, an event combining workshops and collaborative performances in Boulder.
