Pacifica Quartet in Spartanburg

Pacifica Quartet is an American string quartet formed in 1994, performing classical and contemporary chamber music. Its recording of Elliott Carter’s First and Fifth String Quartets won a Grammy Award, while the four-volume The Soviet Experience series includes all fifteen quartets by Dmitri Shostakovich alongside works by other Soviet composers. Pacifica Quartet served for many years as quartet-in-residence at the University of Chicago and later took the same role at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. Its concert history also includes performances at Carnegie Hall in New York and Wigmore Hall in London.
