Artist
Peter Hook is a British bassist, singer and songwriter, born in Salford in 1956. He co-founded Joy Division and, after Ian Curtis’s death, New Order, developing the melodic, high-register bass style heard on songs including “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” “Transmission” and “Blue Monday.” His recorded work includes the albums Unknown Pleasures, Closer and Power, Corruption & Lies. In 2010, Peter Hook & The Light performed Unknown Pleasures in full at FAC251 in Manchester, beginning a concert series devoted to complete Joy Division and New Order records. The band presented Joy Division’s recorded catalogue across three nights at Christ Church in Macclesfield for So This Is Permanence in 2015. The 2016 Substance tour then paired material from the compilations released under that title by Joy Division and New Order.
