Peter Lipa in Liptovský Hrádok

Peter Lipa is a Slovak jazz and blues singer, composer and bandleader, born in Prešov in 1943. He is known for bringing Slovak lyrics into jazz phrasing and for songs including “Maturantky” and “Prosím vás, mám otázku,” as well as the albums Neúprosné ráno and Lipa spieva Lasicu. Peter Lipa helped establish Bratislava Jazz Days in 1975 and became the festival’s longtime artistic director and host, while also appearing there as a performer. His wider festival history includes Jazz Jamboree in Warsaw and the Prague International Jazz Festival. His concerts feature a jazz band and a repertoire that includes songs written to lyrics by Milan Lasica.
