About Prefab Sprout
Prefab Sprout are an English pop band formed in 1978 in Witton Gilbert, County Durham, by songwriter Paddy McAloon and his brother Martin. Their best-known records include the Thomas Dolby-produced album Steve McQueen, From Langley Park to Memphis and Jordan: The Comeback, as well as the songs “When Love Breaks Down,” “Cars and Girls” and “The King of Rock ’n’ Roll.”
Prefab Sprout toured Britain in 1985 following the release of Steve McQueen and returned to the road in 1990 around Jordan: The Comeback. After a decade away from concerts, the band mounted another UK tour in 2000, including a London performance at Shepherd’s Bush Empire.
