Pur in Munich

Pur are a German pop-rock band formed in Bietigheim-Bissingen in 1975 and known under their present name since 1985. Led by singer Hartmut Engler, the group built its repertoire around German-language songs including “Lena,” “Funkelperlenaugen” and “Abenteuerland”; the album Abenteuerland became a central work in their career. The Abenteuerland concerts brought Pur to large indoor venues during the 1990s. In 2001 the band presented the first Pur & Friends concert at Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen, beginning a stadium series built around Pur sets and invited guests. Later productions including the Achtung tour and the Zwischen den Welten tour returned the band to arenas across Germany.
