Ramón Ayala in Torreón

Ramón Ayala is a Mexican singer, songwriter and accordionist, born in Monterrey in 1945, who performs norteño and conjunto music. He founded Los Relámpagos del Norte with Cornelio Reyna and later formed Ramón Ayala y Sus Bravos del Norte. His best-known songs include “Tragos Amargos,” “Un Rinconcito en el Cielo” and “Chaparra de Mi Amor.” He has toured for decades with his band, performing in dance halls, theatres, arenas and at regional Mexican festivals. In 2022, he joined Grupo Firme during its Coachella set; later that year, he performed at the inaugural Besame Mucho festival at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
