Renaissance in Leipzig

Renaissance is an English progressive rock band formed in 1969 by former The Yardbirds members Keith Relf and Jim McCarty. Its best-known 1970s lineup centered on singer Annie Haslam and guitarist-songwriter Michael Dunford. Symphonic arrangements, folk-derived melodies and Haslam’s soprano shaped albums including Ashes Are Burning, Turn of the Cards and Scheherazade and Other Stories, while “Northern Lights” became the band’s best-known single. Renaissance recorded its 1975 Carnegie Hall concerts with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and choir for Live at Carnegie Hall. Two years later, the band performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in a concert recorded at Royal Albert Hall.
