About Robert Fripp
Robert Fripp is an English guitarist and composer, born in Wimborne Minster in 1946 and best known as the founder and only constant member of King Crimson. His work encompasses progressive and experimental rock, ambient music and guitar soundscapes. Key recordings include In the Court of the Crimson King, Red and Discipline, his tape-loop collaboration with Brian Eno on No Pussyfooting, and his guitar part on David Bowie’s “Heroes.”
In 1979, Robert Fripp presented Frippertronics in record shops, offices and other small spaces, constructing solo performances through guitar and reel-to-reel tape loops. He established Guitar Craft in 1985, and its League of Crafty Guitarists toured tightly arranged ensemble guitar music. In 1993 he performed with David Sylvian on the Road to Graceland tour, later documented on the live album Damage. His subsequent solo work developed into digital Soundscapes, including the 2006 Churchscapes concerts in churches across England.
