About Salim–Sulaiman
Salim–Sulaiman are an Indian composing and performing duo formed by brothers Salim and Sulaiman Merchant. They are known for Hindi film music, including the soundtracks to Chak De! India, Fashion, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Band Baaja Baaraat, and for songs such as “Chak De India,” “Shukran Allah” and “Ainvayi Ainvayi.” Their work draws on Hindi pop, Sufi music and qawwali.
In 2010, the duo performed at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony at Soccer City in Johannesburg after recording “Africa – You’re a Star” with Loyiso Bala and Eric Wainaina. They later presented their film songs and independent material in a full-band concert at Expo 2020 Dubai.
