Sofia Karlsson is a Swedish folk singer and songwriter, born in Stockholm in 1975. She sang with the folk group Groupa before pursuing solo work and is particularly known for Svarta ballader, her album of songs and poems by Dan Andersson. Her other releases include Folk Songs and Söder om kärleken. Sofia Karlsson toured the Dan Andersson repertoire in Swedish theatres and concert halls following the album’s release. Her later stage work has included Stjärnenätter, a Christmas concert program developed with pianist Martin Hederos. In these duo performances, Sofia Karlsson sings and plays guitar alongside Martin Hederos on piano.
