The Human League are an English synth-pop band formed in Sheffield in 1977. Their album Dare established the best-known version of the group, led by Philip Oakey with vocalists Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley, and produced the songs “Don’t You Want Me,” “Love Action (I Believe in Love)” and “Open Your Heart.” Their later hits include “Human,” written and produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The 1981 and 1982 Dare tour took the group to theatres in Britain and North America. In 2011, they marked the album’s 30th anniversary by performing it in full on tour, and the 2016 A Very British Synthesizer Group tour drew on songs from across their catalogue. Rewind Festival has booked the group repeatedly, and the band has also returned to the Let’s Rock series for open-air performances.
