About The Monkees
The Monkees are an American pop-rock group created in Los Angeles in 1965 for a television series, with Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork in the original lineup. Their best-known recordings include “Last Train to Clarksville,” “I’m a Believer,” “Pleasant Valley Sunday” and “Daydream Believer,” while Headquarters marked the group taking greater control of its studio work.
The Monkees played their first concert at Honolulu International Center Arena in 1966, then toured the United States and Britain in 1967; Jimi Hendrix opened seven dates on their summer American run. Dolenz, Jones and Tork reunited for the 20th Anniversary World Tour in 1986, playing amphitheatres and arenas. The Mike and Micky Show brought Dolenz and Nesmith to theatres in 2018, and their 2021 farewell tour ended at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
