About The Pretenders
The Pretenders are a British-American rock band formed in Hereford in 1978 by singer, songwriter and guitarist Chrissie Hynde. Their guitar-led rock and new wave produced songs including “Brass in Pocket,” “Back on the Chain Gang,” “Don’t Get Me Wrong” and “I’ll Stand by You,” while key albums include Pretenders and Learning to Crawl.
The Pretenders performed at the US Festival in California in 1983. Two years later they appeared at Live Aid at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia, and their later festival appearances included Glastonbury Festival in 1994 and a return there in 2023.
