Artist
Tortoise is an American instrumental rock band formed in Chicago in 1990. Associated with post-rock, the group draws on jazz, electronic music, dub and minimalism, and became known for albums including Millions Now Living Will Never Die, TNT and Standards, as well as the long-form composition “Djed.” Tortoise curated All Tomorrow’s Parties at Camber Sands in 2001, placing the band’s own performance within a festival program it selected. Their concerts feature the members changing between guitar, bass, keyboards, vibraphone and percussion, often using two drum kits. In 2008, they performed Millions Now Living Will Never Die in full at Pitchfork Music Festival.
