Wayne Toups is an American singer, songwriter and accordionist from Crowley, Louisiana, known for an approach he calls Zydecajun: Cajun music and zydeco shaped by rock and rhythm and blues. His best-known recordings include the album Blast from the Bayou and the songs “Take My Hand” and “Please Explain.” He also recorded The Band Courtbouillon with Steve Riley and Wilson Savoy, which won the Grammy Award for Best Regional Roots Music Album. Wayne Toups and Zydecajun appeared on Austin City Limits, presenting his accordion-led band format in a national concert broadcast. He has also performed at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Festivals Acadiens et Créoles in Lafayette. His shows center on his lead vocal and accordion, backed by Zydecajun.
