Artist
Yussef Dayes is a British drummer, composer and bandleader from South London whose music draws on contemporary jazz, funk and soul. He first became widely known through Yussef Kamaal, the duo with Kamaal Williams behind Black Focus, and later recorded What Kinda Music with Tom Misch before releasing the solo album Black Classical Music. The 2020 live album Welcome to the Hills captured his ensemble in Copenhagen, followed by the filmed performance Live at Joshua Tree. Touring behind Black Classical Music led to a concert documented on the 2024 album Live at the Royal Albert Hall.
