About Zulu
Zulu is a Los Angeles hardcore band formed by vocalist Anaiah Lei in 2019. Their short, abrasive songs draw on powerviolence and hardcore punk while centring Black identity and experience. The band followed the EPs Our Day Will Come and My People... Hold On with its debut album, A New Tomorrow.
In 2023, Zulu joined Show Me the Body’s World War Tour, which also featured Jesus Piece and Scowl. The band performed at Coachella the following year, taking its compact hardcore set to one of California’s major festival stages.
Zulu has also performed at Outbreak Festival in Manchester and Sound and Fury in Los Angeles.
