808 State are a British electronic group formed in Manchester in 1987 by Graham Massey, Martin Price and Gerald Simpson. Their early acid house developed into techno, ambient house and sample-based electronica, heard on tracks including “Pacific State,” “Cubik” and “In Yer Face” and on the albums 808:90 and ex:el. 808 State performed at The Haçienda during the club’s acid-house era and carried a hardware-led live setup into larger concert settings. Their festival history includes the 1991 Cities in the Park concert at Heaton Park and appearances at Glastonbury Festival.
