A Flock of Seagulls are a British new wave and synth-pop band formed in Liverpool in 1979. Their self-titled debut album introduced “I Ran (So Far Away)” and “Space Age Love Song”; “Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)” followed on the album Listen. The band performed at the US Festival in California in 1983, appearing on the event’s new wave day. In 2004, the four original members regrouped for a one-off performance filmed for VH1’s Bands Reunited.
Men Without Hats are a Canadian new wave and synth-pop band formed in Montreal in 1977. Led by singer Ivan Doroschuk, they are best known for “The Safety Dance” from the album Rhythm of Youth and the later single “Pop Goes the World.” A 1985 concert at the Spectrum was captured for the concert film Live Hats! After Doroschuk re-formed the group in 2010, Men Without Hats returned to the stage at SXSW in Austin in 2011 and resumed touring.
