Accademia Bizantina in Ferrara

Accademia Bizantina is an Italian period-instrument ensemble founded in Ravenna in 1983. Led by harpsichordist and conductor Ottavio Dantone since 1996, it concentrates on Baroque music, particularly Italian repertoire of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Its recordings include Vivaldi’s L’estro armonico, Corelli’s Concerti grossi, Op. 6 and operas by Vivaldi and Handel. Accademia Bizantina has performed at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Wigmore Hall in London, presenting orchestral and chamber programmes on historical instruments. The ensemble has also brought its opera and concert repertoire to the Salzburg Festival.
