José Cid in Braga

José Cid is a Portuguese singer, songwriter and keyboardist, born in Chamusca in 1942, whose music ranges from progressive rock to pop ballads. He first became known with Quarteto 1111 and later released the concept album 10.000 Anos Depois Entre Vénus e Marte; his solo catalogue includes “Um Grande, Grande Amor,” “Na Cabana Junto à Praia” and “Como o Macaco Gosta de Banana.” At Festival RTP da Canção in 1980, José Cid won Portugal’s selection with “Um Grande, Grande Amor,” then performed it for Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest in The Hague.
