Actress is the recording name of British electronic producer Darren J. Cunningham. His music draws on techno, ambient, dub and experimental club forms, often reshaping them through hazy textures and fractured rhythms. Albums including Splazsh, R.I.P., Ghettoville and AZD established the project’s distinctive catalogue. In 2014, he presented what was billed as Actress’s final live performance at the Barbican in London, closing the Ghettoville period. The project returned to live performance in 2017 around AZD, and Darren J. Cunningham subsequently developed a concert collaboration with the London Contemporary Orchestra that was documented on the album Lageos.
