AIGEL in Amsterdam

AIGEL is a Russian electronic hip-hop duo formed in 2016 by poet and vocalist Aigel Gaisina and producer Ilya Baramia. Their stark electronic tracks pair Russian and Tatar lyrics with spoken-word delivery and rap; the duo is known for the songs “Tatarin” and “Piyala” and the album 1190. “Piyala” reached a wider audience through the television series The Boy’s Word: Blood on the Asphalt. In 2017, AIGEL began performing material from 1190 in clubs after the record’s release. Those concerts were followed by appearances at Tallinn Music Week and Sziget in Budapest. The duo’s stage format centers on live vocals by Aigel Gaisina and electronic production performed by Ilya Baramia.
