About Akira Yamaoka
Akira Yamaoka is a Japanese composer and guitarist best known for his music for the Silent Hill video-game series. His scores use dark ambient, electronic music, trip-hop and rock, while pieces including “Theme of Laura,” “Promise” and “You’re Not Here” became closely associated with the series.
At MAGFest in 2012, Yamaoka performed music from the games in a live band setting. In 2015, he played guitar as the repertoire moved through venues in the United Kingdom and continental Europe on the Silent Hill Live tour.
