Akropolis Reed Quintet in Houston

Akropolis Reed Quintet is an American chamber ensemble formed at the University of Michigan in 2009 and based in Detroit. Its lineup comprises oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bass clarinet and bassoon, an instrumentation the group has used for contemporary commissions and recordings including Unraveled, The Space Between Us and Are We Dreaming the Same Dream?, the latter made with composer and pianist Pascal Le Boeuf. The quintet has performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington and at Chamber Music Northwest in Portland, presenting new compositions alongside music arranged for its five reed instruments. Those appearances place commissioned chamber music at the center of its concert work at both major arts venues and established festivals. Its concerts feature all five musicians as a single chamber group. The repertoire includes music associated with the ensemble by composers Marc Mellits and David Biedenbender.
