Al Stewart is a Scottish singer-songwriter, born in Glasgow in 1945, whose folk rock and soft rock songs often draw on history, politics and literary storytelling. His best-known recordings include “Year of the Cat,” “Time Passages” and “On the Border,” while the albums Past, Present and Future and Modern Times established his detailed narrative style. In the 1960s, he played London folk clubs including Les Cousins, and in 1970 he performed at the Worthy Farm event that became Glastonbury Festival. His 1981 album Indian Summer combined studio material with live recordings made at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles.
The Empty Pockets are an American roots-rock band formed in Chicago by guitarist and singer Josh Solomon and keyboardist and singer Erika Brett. Their music draws on rock, blues, folk and soul, and their albums include Voices, Outside Spectrum and Gotta Find the Moon. The Empty Pockets have spent years touring with Scottish singer-songwriter Al Stewart, serving as both opening act and backing band. At these concerts, they have begun the evening with their own songs before accompanying Al Stewart through his catalogue.
