Alceu Valença in Coimbra

Alceu Valença is a Brazilian singer-songwriter born in 1946 in São Bento do Una, Pernambuco. He plays MPB rooted in the music of northeastern Brazil, including forró, frevo and maracatu, while songs such as “Anunciação,” “Tropicana,” “Coração Bobo” and “La Belle de Jour” form the core of his repertoire. The 1976 live album Vivo! documented his concert at Teatro Tereza Rachel. Nine years later, he performed at the inaugural Rock in Rio in 1985.
