Alex Cuba in Rancho Cucamonga

Alex Cuba is a Cuban-born Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist who was born Alexis Puentes in Artemisa in 1974. He plays Latin pop rooted in Cuban son and trova, drawing on jazz, funk and soul. His albums include Humo de Tabaco, Healer and Mendó, which won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. In 2010, Alex Cuba opened Canadian dates on the Mi Plan Tour, presenting his own songs to arena audiences. His later appearances included an NPR Tiny Desk Concert, where he sang and played guitar with a small ensemble at NPR’s Washington, D.C. office.
