Artist
Alexandre Pires is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, born in Uberlândia in 1976, who first became known as the lead singer of the pagode group Só Pra Contrariar. His repertoire moves between samba, pagode, romantic pop and Spanish-language ballads, including “Que Se Chama Amor,” “Essa Tal Liberdade,” “Depois do Prazer” and the solo recording “Usted Se Me Llevó la Vida.” The SPC 25 Anos reunion was recorded live in Porto Alegre, returning Pires to the group’s catalogue for an anniversary concert project. As a solo headliner, he developed O Baile do Nêgo Véio, a medley-based show drawing on pagode, samba and Brazilian pop as well as his own songs. He later rejoined the group’s original lineup for the arena farewell tour SPC Acústico 2: O Último Encontro.
