Altin Gün in Portland

Altin Gün is a Dutch band formed in Amsterdam in 2016 by bassist Jasper Verhulst. The group plays Anatolian rock and psychedelic folk through new arrangements of Turkish songs, including “Goca Dünya,” “Süpürgesi Yoncadan” and “Leyla.” Its albums include On, Gece, Yol and Aşk; Gece received a Grammy nomination for Best World Music Album. In 2019, Altin Gün performed at Coachella and recorded a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR Music. The group performs as a full electric band, using bağlama, guitar, bass, drums and keyboards to support Turkish-language vocals. In 2023, the band performed at Glastonbury Festival.
