Alvaro Torres in Tampa

Alvaro Torres is a Salvadoran singer-songwriter, born in Concepción Batres in 1954, whose romantic Latin pop centers on melody and direct, confessional lyrics. He is known for songs including “Nada se compara contigo,” “Hazme olvidarla,” “Chiquita mía” and “Buenos Amigos,” a duet recorded with Selena. His catalog also includes the albums Nada se compara contigo and Si estuvieras conmigo. Alvaro Torres performed at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival in 1994, presenting his ballads on one of Spanish-language music’s major televised stages. He has also returned to El Salvador for concert appearances, including performances at Teatro Presidente in San Salvador.
