Amanda Strydom in Randburg

Amanda Strydom is a South African singer-songwriter, actress and cabaret performer, born in Port Elizabeth in 1956. She works chiefly in Afrikaans pop and theatrical song, and is known for pieces including “My Kamer” and “Ek Loop die Pad,” as well as albums such as Kaalvoet and Vrou by die Spieël. State of the Heart, first staged in 1988, was one of her early one-woman cabarets. She later wrote and performed The Incredible Journey of Tinkerbell van Tonder, continuing a stage format built around songs and spoken storytelling. She has taken this repertoire to Oudtshoorn for the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival and to Potchefstroom for Aardklop.
