Amsterdam Sinfonietta in Erlangen

Amsterdam Sinfonietta is a Dutch string orchestra founded in 1988 as Nieuw Sinfonietta Amsterdam. It performs Baroque, Classical, Romantic and contemporary repertoire, and its recordings include The Mahler Album and The Argentinian Album. The orchestra presents concert seasons at the Concertgebouw and Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ, and has taken its programmes to the Barbican Centre in London. Its Breder dan Klassiek tours have placed the ensemble in Dutch theatres for collaborations with artists including Rufus Wainwright and Patrick Watson. The ensemble performs without a conductor and is led from the violin by artistic director Candida Thompson.
