Andrea Bocelli in Pittsburgh

Andrea Bocelli is an Italian tenor, born in 1958 in Lajatico, Tuscany, who performs opera, classical crossover and pop. He won the newcomers’ section of the Sanremo Music Festival with “Il mare calmo della sera” and is known for “Con te partirò,” its duet version with Sarah Brightman, “Time to Say Goodbye,” and the album Romanza. In 2006, Bocelli gave the inaugural concert at Teatro del Silenzio, the open-air amphitheatre in his home town that hosts his annual summer event. In 2011, he performed a free concert on Central Park’s Great Lawn accompanied by the New York Philharmonic and joined by guests including Celine Dion and Tony Bennett. The performance was released as Concerto: One Night in Central Park.
