Anneke van Giersbergen in Warsaw

Anneke van Giersbergen is a Dutch singer-songwriter, born in 1973, whose work covers alternative rock, metal and acoustic songwriting. She became known as the vocalist of The Gathering, appearing on albums including Mandylion, Nighttime Birds and How to Measure a Planet?; “Strange Machines” remains a central song from that period. Her solo catalogue includes Everything Is Changing and The Darkest Skies Are the Brightest. In 2007, she began touring with Agua de Annique, the band formed around her solo material. She toured in 2014 as The Sirens with Liv Kristine and Kari Rueslåtten, then fronted the live version of The Gentle Storm in 2015. In 2017, she formed VUUR and toured Europe following the release of In This Moment We Are Free – Cities.
